It’s still possible to get a fully renovated home for under $200,000 in Nashville! This client, a referral (know anyone looking to move?), already rents in Old Hickory Village and decided to buy. How did this little town come to exist? The government contracted with DuPont to build the world’s largest gunpowder plant on 5,600 acres on the Cumberland River. In 1918, as the Great War raged on, Old Hickory Village was created to house employees. Thousands of homes on perfect, grid-like streets were created complete with a post office, theater, churches, bank, fire and police. Fast forward to the late 1940’s, DuPont had continued to build Old Hickory Village but the company town idea was no longer viable.
